Camp 2.0

Well… here I am away with another group of young people. SU Camp, week 2 -and, all things concidered, I’m holding up really well.
Last weeks camp was cool, interesting, and hard. I’m just uploading a picture from my iphone as we speak (yes, It’s sad, I know) to show you just how beautiful it all was. A centre just on the edge of Loch Tay, great weather on the whole and a really interesting and pretty cool campers.
There were many things I found hard - having the campers arrive a day later than expected meant lots of thumb twiddling - and entering a team of students from ICC was quite a challenge - great to be on a team with so many tallented people though. The young people I took along had a great time. Excellent indeed - and there were young people from all kinds of situations. There were also some brilliant conversations - I missed worship times each day though.
Now, having dashed home, bought some new clothes and slept lots, I then met this camp at a large shopping centre near Edinburgh. Nightmare! Loads of kids (70?) and parents bustling around in the rain - blocking roads, getting in bother from security - and eventually making it here to Lendrick Muir for another week.
Im holding up well. My treat to myself has been a mobile broadband thingy for my laptop letting me access the internet from here (via three, excellent deal) which has proved useful and I am sure will in the future.
Just a few years ago when I was ‘cutting edge’ (ok, maybe a few more) with mobile PDA internet access etc three were the least likely to offer anything other than their own very restricted internet. Now they are on to a winner - £10 for 1gb mobile access - PAYG. Well done three!
The kids here are enjoying themselves. LM is always easy in some ways - and I know, and work well with, a lot of the team. Thank you God. Its always easy to overlook these things. One of the young people with me here just bought his first Bible - cool! I also just had much success teaching some young people informally at an archery session - very pleased with myself.
